The Perfect Used Book Blog for You!
Who doesn’t love the feel of a good, ole fashioned book?
Used book shops are all the rage, but what happens when you take them online? You get a killer, adorable blog! If you’re interested in getting rid of the books on your shelf and you want to do it in a fun, entrepreneurial way — this is the site for you.
There are a TON of growth opportunities — from increasing your traffic and adding ads to popping in some affiliate links and earning off your recommendations.
The eCommerce store itself could benefit from an overhaul as well. Reading accessories are a hot commodity. Why not add some cozy reading socks and cute bookmarks to the mix?
The owner’s current inventory is NOT included in the sale. However, they are willing to negotiate a fair price for it if you don’t have any inventory of your own to get started.
Traffic
This site gets a few visitors per month, which could seriously be bumped up by an influx of steady SEO-driven blog posts. The highest traffic month this year was seen in February, which saw over 1,300 page views — so there’s definitely an audience out there!
Even with the low traffic, organic search is the primary driver with 59.1%. That’s followed by direct (27.3%), social (9.1%) and referral.
Revenue & Expenses
Revenue for this site currently includes income from three affiliate partnerships, with Ads recently activated. The month of April has performed the best to date, with income increasing over the five months.
This used book store exists entirely on WordPress (via WooCommerce), so there aren’t any pesky Shopify or Squarespace fees to pay. But should you choose to continue shipping used books, you’ll need to consider shipping costs (see recent costs in the P&L).
Beyond shipping fees for the eCommerce portion of the business, other expenses include the typical domain renewal and hosting services.

Q&A With Seller
WHAT ARE THE OPERATING PROCEDURES FOR RUNNING THIS BUSINESS?
Maintaining the website: making sure plug-ins are updated, writing and publishing blog posts.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT email OPEN RATE AND CLICK RATE?
It’s started but not being used. We’ve only sent a handful of campaigns. Last campaign had a 51.81% open rate, and 1.20% click rate.
WHERE IS MOST OF YOUR INCOME GENERATED FROM?
Posting on Facebook.
If you were keeping the site, what steps would you take over the next 3 to 6 months to grow the traffic and income?
Be more consistent on social media, and be more consistent with newsletters.
If you were shopping for sites, what about this one would stand out to you?
It has a very “boutique” feel. Most online bookstores feel sterile, and lack personality. There’s personality on this site, and it makes me want to browse and see what’s available.
